Emergency workers burst into cheers on Monday when they discovered three puppies in the rubble of an Italian hotel that was destroyed by an avalanche last week. NBC News reports that the three white sheepdogs were found five days after the disaster, huddled together in an air pocket in the hotel's boiler room. They were born last month to Hotel Rigopiano's resident sheepdogs, who found their way out of the avalanche last Wednesday and were found wandering through the village. Despite the good news, firefighter spokesman Luca Cari told reporters that the discovery of the dogs doesn't necessarily signal new hope for finding additional human survivors. "We're happy to have saved them, and these are important moments in a dramatic situation," he said. "But I don't think there's much correlation with finding other people." Seven people have been confirmed dead following the avalanche and 22 remain missing as the search operation continues.
