American Has 1.39 Billion Pound Cheese Surplus

According to a new report released by the USDA, America is awash in a 1.39 billion-pound surplus of cheese. The Washington Post  reports that the tally represents a six percent increase over this time  last year and a 16 percent increase since an earlier surplus prompted a  federal cheese buy-up in 2016. Analysts have determined that the  commercial warehouse stocks have swelled because processors have too  much milk on their hands, and milk is more easily stored as cheese.  Demand has also fallen as school cafeterias close for the summer  holiday. The surplus is good news for cheese lovers, who are likely to  find some of their favorite varieties at lower prices.
