A whopping 49 percent of American adults surveyed between 2013 and 2016 reported that they'd tried losing weight during the prior 12 months, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics. More women (56.4 percent) said they wanted to slim down than men (41.7 percent). Exercising and eating less were the two most common weight-loss strategies that people used (63 percent). Others said they were trying to eat less sweets and fast food, and drink more water and eat more produce.
