WWII Vet Walking 100 Miles For Coronavirus Relief For 100th Birthday

World War II veteran from Minnesota is about to turn 100 and he’s celebrating with an act of kindness that will feed thousands in his community. Mickey Nelson is turning the big 1-0-0 on June 27th and he’s walking 100 miles through his small town of Clarks Grove in a project he calls “Walking to 100.”

Nelson has already been hitting the streets to get those miles in and he’s already raised $42-thousand so far. All the money will go to The Salvation Army’s feeding and emergency programs, which are more in demand than ever these days. The vet now hopes to help feed as many people as possible and remind everyone that we’re all in this together.

“I believe all of America, Democrat or Republican, should be united in helping the less fortunate among us,” Nelson explains. “We are the United States of America and that is what my generation fought for.”
