After more than 50 years apart, a couple who fell in love as teenagers has been given a second shot at love. Dennis and Diane Reynolds met back in junior high school in California and started dating when they were 15. They first tied the knot on November 11th, 1961...just a few months after graduating high school and went on to have two sons together. But being so young, their marriage hit the skids and they divorced in 1965.
Dennis and Diane both went on to marry other people and she had four more kids with her second husband. Tragedy brought them together in 1989, when their son Keith died by suicide at age 25 and again in 2001, when their son Curtis died following surgeries resulting from injuries that happened on a military mission. Both of their spouses had also passed away and the couple hadn’t talked in years. Then in July 2019, Diane said, “God, I’d like to have a relationship with somebody,” and the next day, Dennis called her out of the blue.
They reconnected and Diane went to visit her daughter in the Las Vegas area, where Dennis also lives, and the former flames went on a couple back-to-back dates and found the old spark was still there. In February 2020, she moved in with him in Vegas and on November 11th, they said “I do” once again, on what would’ve been their 59th anniversary. “Call it fate, call it whatever you want, but we just feel like it was probably meant to be,” Diane says. “We’re just going to enjoy every minute.”
