Join Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library’s for their Truck & Tractor Day on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Guests can take a hayride and get an up-close look at the big equipment Winterthur uses to maintain its 1,000-acre estate and gardens, including farm tractors, mowers, bucket trucks, earth-moving equipment, and the Winterthur Fire Department's three fire trucks!
Kids can suit up in firefighter gear and blast water from a firehose at stage props.
Bob’s Crane Service will showcase a 55-ton crane they use when working with Winterthur’s two full-time arborists on tree care and maintenance on the property.
At the Kids Climb station, arborists will harness kids into tree-climbing gear and hoist them up for a view among the oak trees.
Delaware State Police are scheduled to bring a few vehicles as well.
In addition to farm-style fun and prizes for kids, guests can guess the weight of a giant pumpkin for the chance to win a Winterthur membership.
Winterthur’s catering group Restaurant Associates will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers for purchase, and Woodside Farm Creamery will be on hand with their small-batch, gourmet ice cream.
