Some Say Apple's HomePod Leaving White Ring on Wood Furniture

Since being  released last week, Apple's $349 HomePod has earned great reviews for  its audio quality. But it appears the device has a serious design flaw.  Wirecutter reports that the silicone base of the HomePod leaves a white  ring on wooden furniture, even if placed there for just a few minutes.  Some reviewers even claim it permanently damages the finish. "Homepod  left rings on my wood furniture in less than 20 minutes of use.

Thanks  #Apple. I am glad a paid $400 to make perfect etched circles on my more  expensive furniture," one disgruntled customer tweeted. Interestingly,  rather than apologize, Apple has simply confirmed the the issue. "The  marks can improve over several days after the speaker is removed from  the wood surface." it told Wirecutter. It also suggested that users "try  cleaning the surface with the manufacturer’s suggested oiling method.".
