Camila Cabello Reveals Why She Doesn't Want To Be A 'Great Celebrity'

2018 might end with a break for Camila Cabello, but the pop star has scored some excellent press to end her year on a high note. After landing her first pair of Grammy nominations, the star appears on one of the newest issues of Billboard magazine, where she discussed her whirlwind year as a solo artist and why she has no interest in being a "great celebrity."

In the issue, the 21-year-old superstar tackled the subject of public persona, detailing a bit about her romance with British dating coach Matthew Hussey. "I know that it would be a lot more interesting for people if I posted more about my private life or was involved in the gossip or whatever," the former Fifth Harmony bandmate explained. "I just don't like it. I just want to be a good artist. I don't want to be a great celebrity. I'm not!"

In fact, the only reason that the two shared a kiss in October while at an airport in Santiago, Chile was because her fans had chanted for one. "Those were my biggest, biggest, most hard-core fans," Cabello told the magazine. "And they know him anyway, because they know that we’re together. I thought it was really cute when they did that, and it’s like a trusted circle. ... They're chanting my mom's and my manager’s and my dad’s and my sister’s name, so they know a lot, so I thought it was really cute when they said that, and I was just like, ‘Let’s give them a kiss.'"

Even though she said in this week's tweet that she was in for some rest and relation, the interview also detailed her direct flight from the 2018 MTV EMA to Miami to work on her sophomore album. "The five years that I was in the group, I don't feel like that counts," she admitted. "I really have just been a solo artist for a year, so I can't take an extended break. ... I don’t feel like I should do that, you know?"
