Well, this was theworst Easter weekend for the box office in nearly 15 years. Total earnings for his weekend were $112-million, the lowest since 2005 according to Variety. It could be because there wasn't aĀ Disney release on the slate leading up to the Marvelās āAvengers: Endgameā premiere on April 26th.
But even so, āThe Curse of La Lloronaā scored more points for the horror genre for its debut weekend. The movie bumped āShazam!ā to the second spot after raking in $26-point-five-million, a solid opening that exceeded expectations. Fellow newcomer āBreakthroughā debuted in the third spot, though only by a little more than $11-million.
āHellboyā saw a big decline of almost 70-percent for its second weekend, going from third to the tenth spot. Meanwhile, āCaptain Marvelā was more popular last week, getting promoted to the fourth spot.
