WWII Vet Gets High School Diploma at 95

Lewie Shaw dropped out of school at 17 and joined the Marines in 1943, so he never graduated from high school. But the World War II veteran has finally received his diploma, more than 70 years later.

Shaw was awarded the diploma during a Veterans Day ceremony at Claremore High School in Oklahoma, where he put on a red cap and gown over his military uniform. The 95-year-old made it through life without graduating, but says “it’s a thrill” to finally have that diploma now.
