Couple Weds on Balcony and Neighbors Watch

A few weeks ago, Ben Katz and Jamie Webner realized their wedding wasn’t going to go down as planned. The Miami couple had over 100 guests coming, half of them from out of town, to see them tie the knot on April 4th. But instead of postponing the event, they revised their plans and decided to “take back” their wedding day.

They planned a Zoom wedding on the balcony of their high rise, so 150 attendees could watch virtually. The bride’s sister got ordained so she could officiate and they introduced themselves to their next door neighbors for the first time so they could be witnesses from their own balcony - safely 15 feet away. Some other neighbors even popped bottles of champagne and clapped for the newlyweds.

“It’s definitely not what we planned or how we wanted it to be,” the groom says, “but it was nice to have something happy to do on a Saturday.”
