After spending a month in an induced coma, a five-month old Brazilian baby is recovering from the coronavirus and heading home. Baby Dom was diagnosed with the illness and spent 54 days in the hospital, and for 32 of them he was in the coma and connected to a ventilator.
Dom’s father, Wagner Andrade, says his son was having difficulty breathing and was treated at one hospital, but when he got worse, his wife took him to a second hospital. That’s when Dom was tested and diagnosed with coronavirus. His parents say it’s a “miracle” he recovered and now he’ll be home to celebrate his six-month birthday on June 14th.
"First, I felt relieved, and then indescribable happiness," Andrade says. "We were longing to get him back home for more than 50 days."
