The "Baby Shark" Ab Workout is A KILLER!

You’ve probably all heard that “Baby Shark” song before and if you’re the parent of a toddler, you’ve probably listened to it on repeat. It can be annoying for sure, but if you’re going to have to hear it, you’ll be glad to know there’s an upside: you can use it to get abs of steel. There’s a “Baby Shark” ab workout challenge and while it was created by a group of young gymnasts, don’t be fooled. This is a hardcore routine that will feel like it’s never going to end, and not just because the song’s a song we've all heard too many times!

The little girls in the video fly through the moves and make it seem so easy, but by the end of the minute and a half song, you’ll realize how hard it really is. Most of the workout is done from a hollow body hold, a lying down position with your arms and legs held out to the side, but you can also do it from a V-sit position, with your legs and torso lifted off the ground, so you look like a “V.” Either way, your core will feel it, but that’s what makes it a good workout.

Each verse of the song comes with a different ab exercise and they’re all tough, but the V-ups for Grandpa shark may be the worst. Is the music annoying? Yep, but all those doo doo doos are also distracting. And don’t feel bad if you can’t do this ab workout as well as the kids, a personal trainer who’s more ripped than most of us will ever be tried it and his look of exasperation at the end is somehow comforting.
