1. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their triumphant return to the UK for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. She was seen playing with the royal grandchildren as they grew bored of watching the military display. Queen Elizabeth won’t be at the National Service of Thanksgiving in her honor at St. Paul's Cathedral today. Apparently, the activities of the day left her feeling “some discomfort,” the palace announced.
2. A 14-year-old Texas girl has won the first-ever spell-off at the National Spelling Bee. Harini Logan of San Antonio won the Scripps National Spelling Bee Thursday night near Washington, DC. Logan received a trophy and a 50-thousand-dollar check after defeating 12-year-old Vikram Raju in the first-ever spell-off, a spelling duel to see how many words the contestants can spell correctly within 90 seconds. Harini correctly spelled 21 of the 26 words. Here’s a clip of Logan being named the winner.
3. A woman got two sofas and a chair for free off Craigslist and found envelopes with $36k inside them tucked into the cushions. She contacted the family the furniture came from and returned the money; they gave her $2,200 as a reward. She says the money will go towards a new refrigerator.
