Ariana Grande honored The Wizard of Oz with a beautiful tribute and gorgeous dress to open up the 2025 Oscars.

On a night where her film Wicked was nominated for 10 awards, including best supporting actress for her performance, Grande paid homage to the film that started it all. Bathed in the smoky spotlight in front of a starry, moonlit backdrop, Grande wowed the crowd with a breathtaking rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," putting her own spin on the song made famous by Judy Garland as Dorothy in the 1939 film.

The performance itself was enough to transport the audience to Oz, but the Thank U, Next singer went the extra mile with her stunning look, wearing a ruby red gown complete with a red slipper perched on her back that matched the ones she wore with her glittering gown. She has repeatedly paid tribute to The Wizard of Oz with her jaw-dropping ensembles throughout awards season.

Following Grande's performance, her Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo came out for her own powerful cover of "Home" from the 1978 film The Wiz, before Grande rejoined her on stage for "Defying Gravity," ending with a standing ovation from the crowd.
