A kindergarten teacher at Frontier Elementary in Edmond, Oklahoma, was recently surprised with a marriage proposal in her classroom. After being called to the school office for a brief chat, Julie Bargas returned to find her students lined up outside, each handing her a tiny fake ring, leading to her boyfriend, Josh Payne, waiting inside with flowers and proposing on one knee. Bargas describes the moment as "really sweet" and says she was overwhelmed with happiness.
Payne spent six months planning the proposal, coordinating with Bargas’ colleagues and the school principal to keep it a surprise. The couple, who’ve been together for three years, both have children from previous marriages and have supported each other through some difficult times. The future groom notes that couldn’t have pulled off the proposal without the help of Bargas’ coworkers, saying, "If you ever need anything done, you get yourself five or six teachers."
After the bride-to-be said yes, Payne handed out ring pops to the excited students, and the school district photographer captured the special moment, later sharing it on social media. Bargas was given the rest of the day off to celebrate with her fiancé and their families. The couple plans to have a small family wedding this summer and she hopes their story gives others faith that they can find happiness again after divorce.
