Southington, Connecticut, high school seniors Liliana Vera and Evan Jekubovich decided to celebrate their four-month anniversary by performing some random acts of kindness. Inspired by a video on social media, the couple bought flowers, pens, and notecards, and visited Hartford Hospital to place encouraging messages and blooms on parked cars. On their notes were phrases like “One step at a time” and “You’ll get through this,” offering support to strangers experiencing difficult times.
In addition to placing flowers on windshields, the teens gave extra bouquets to the parking garage attendant. They filmed their gesture and shared it online, where the video quickly went viral. Liliana says they hope to inspire others just like they had been, while Evan says it’s important to spread positivity, especially considering the emotional toll hospitals can have on visitors and families.
Amel Zubeidy, who’d been staying at the hospital with her daughter, discovered the flowers on her car after a long day. She describes the gesture as deeply comforting, saying it made her feel seen and less alone. The teens say their goal was simply to brighten someone’s day and encourage others to spread kindness.
