DDG: Police Bring Bday Surprise To Boy Who Called 911 To Talk About Sports

Over the weekend, Micah, a four-year-old boy from Farmington Hills, Michigan, dialed 911 to talk about his love for soccer and swimming. Dispatchers followed procedure and sent Officer Michael El-Hage to check on the situation, where he found Micah and his brother Mitch safe at home. The officer spent time chatting with the boys and even showed them the inside of his police cruiser.

During the visit, El-Hage learned that Mitch had a birthday coming up the next day. He told the boys he might try to return but wasn’t sure if he could. To their delight, he was able to come back and surprise Mitch with birthday presents, including a soccer goal and a police cap and badge.

El-Hage, who has a son himself, says he wanted to make the boys’ day special and that being a dad helped him understand the importance of moments like this. The Farmington Hills Police Department shared the story on social media, writing that the visit turned a small mistake into a positive connection. The department added that while accidental 911 calls happen, they want kids to feel safe and comfortable reaching out to police.
