Teen Who Joins Air Force Donates hair and Starts Fundraiser for St. Jude

An Alabama teen who’s joining the military cut his long hair and he’s donating it to be made into wigs for kids battling cancer. Kieran Moise says he “doesn’t like haircuts” and hadn’t had one in about six years, so his afro had grown to an impressive 19-inches. But he decided to get the big chop when he got the call from the U.S. Air Force Academy with the GOOD news that he’s been accepted.

Along with donating his locks, he started a fundraiser to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital called Kieran’s Curls for Cancer. The recent high school grad was inspired to help families dealing with cancer after losing a friend to the disease when he was in eighth grade. Donations have poured in and it’s now raised more than $30-thousand!

“I’m going into the military and I didn’t want to just cut it off and drop it on the floor,” Kieran says. “I wanted to give back because there are lots of people that need help.”
