A man was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport this week after attempting to smuggle four pounds of cocaine inside six pairs of shoes. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Guyanese citizen Amaziah Hohenkirk was stopped in the airport after arriving from Georgetown, Guyana, via Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Customs officials said the cocaine is worth an estimated $67,000 on the streets. Hohenkirk is facing federal narcotics smuggling charges brought by the U.S. Attorney's Office in the U.S. Eastern District Court of New York.
