The wedding-industrial complex likes to convince brides that buying their wedding gown should be a princess-like, once-in-a-lifetime experience. But as the AP reports, more and more engaged women are purchasing their gowns like they do everything else these days: online. In fact, website that cater exclusively to selling used wedding gowns are becoming a hot item.
"Modern brides are less sentimental, more budget-savvy, eco-friendly, and are comfortable making large purchases online," says Bruno Szajer, co-founder of Still White, which has seen sales skyrocket by 50 percent compared to last year. Meanwhile, brides who plan on buying new gowns and then selling them used online are becoming savvy enough to list their dresses even before they walk down the aisle.
