Warner Bros. is reportedly in the early stages of developing a reboot of the iconic sci-fi franchise The Matrix. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Wachowski siblings--who wrote and directed the original trilogy--are not involved and their future engagement with the project has not been determined.
Sources close to the relaunch tell the outlet that Zak Penn is in talks to write a treatment and that Michael B. Jordan is being eyed at the potential star. While Joel Silver--who produced the original trilogy--is said to have approached the studio about the idea of a new film, he sold his interest in all his movies to the studio in 2012 for about $30 million.
