On Tuesday in Long Island, New York, 83-year-old Donald Winkler was admitted to Nasau University Medical Center with some sort of illness. After he became dissatisfied with the care he was receiving, he checked himself out of the hospital and proceeded to steal an ambulance. (It was sitting in the parking lot with its keys in the ignition.)
Winkler and the ambulance were located a short while later at a nearby 7-Eleven, at which point he was driven back to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and ultimately arraigned on a grand larceny charge while lying in bed.
