Delaware Drug Take-Back Day is This Saturday

We all have them, a couple of leftover pills stashed in old prescription bottles in the medicine cabinet or tucked away in a bin under the sink.   Yes, the instructions say "take all" but for whatever reason we didn't.

Actually, a couple of weeks ago while cleaning out the garage, I came across a bunch of old doggie prescriptions we'd collected over the years.  How we ended up with that many old dog prescriptions I will never know, but I went to toss 'em in the trash and suddenly remembered a conversation I had with Kevin Musto from Atlantic Apothecary regarding proper disposal.

Properly discarding unused medications protects groundwater, reduces  the risk of addiction, keeps prescription medications out of the hands  of people who may abuse them and helps prevent drug overdoses, according to the Delaware Division of Public Health.

So how do you properly dispose of old prescriptions?  It's easy this Saturday during Delaware Drug Take-Back Day.  From 10am to 2pm, simply drop off any expired or unused medications to any of the 33 locations below.  There is no charge, just simply gather your old medications and drop them off.

And don't  worry, if you can't make it out Saturday there are several permanent  drop off locations across the state to aid in disposal.
