10 Tips for Faster Growing Hair

Aspiring to have a main worthy of an Ariana Grande ponytail or a Kim Kardashian photo shoot? No fear! Seventeen has 10 tips that will help make your hair grow faster. Here they are:

  1. Trim it. Damaged ends will break off and make your hair shorter.
  2. Skip super hot water. Hot water weakens your hair, making it dry and brittle.
  3. Don’t blow dry and flat iron in the same day. Heat styling can fry your hair and keep it from growing long and strong.
  4. Pat your hair dry. Twisting it up into a towel after stepping out of the shower can break strands and damage your 'do.
  5. Pamper your scalp. Dirt, oil, and dead skin cells pile up on your scalp making it hard for new hair to grow.
  6. Invest in a wide-toothed comb. Use it to gently remove tangles without snapping your delicate strands.
  7. Avoid bleach. Harsh hair chemicals = breakage, breakage, breakage.
  8. Be gentle when taking down your hair. Don’t yank your hair tie out of the tangled knot.
  9. Get a silk pillowcase. A  silk pillowcase will gently caress your hair while you sleep, instead  of cotton--which creates more friction and causes breakage.
  10. Don’t try to imitate Grande’s epic ponytail. A super tight pony can lead to hair loss-and give you migraines.
