Olive Oil Can Prevent Memory Loss

A new Temple University study shows that extra-virgin olive oil prevents memory loss and can stave off Alzheimer’s. As USA Today notes, “Olive oil is the cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet, which is praised for its various health benefits.” "The thinking is that extra-virgin olive oil is better than fruits and vegetables alone," adds senior investigator Domenico Pratico, a professor at Temple’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine. "As a monounsaturated vegetable fat, it is healthier than saturated animal fats."
