Netflix Top for Streaming

There’s good reason why we’re always hearing about the concept of  "Netflix and Chill." That’s because Netflix is by far the most popular  streaming service in the U.S.

According to a new report, three out of four streaming video watchers  in the U.S. watch Netflix. And for households that only use one  streaming app, half of those are watching Netflix. Overall, 40% of Wi-Fi  equipped households have Netflix, with YouTube in second (30%),  followed by Amazon Video (18%) and Hulu (12%).

The report, which is culled from data from April of this year, also finds that 51 million U.S. households view such OTT (over-the-top) programming, which translates to 54% of U.S. homes with Wi-Fi, with the average home watching 49 hours a month.

As for how people are watching their streaming, about 38-million are  using streaming sticks like Google’s Chromecast and Amazon’s Fire, as  well as set-top boxes like Roku or Apple TV, while 38-million have Smart  TVs.

And it seems a lot of people are giving up cable because of their  streaming options. Turns out, 34% of those who watch OTT content don't  subscribe to pay TV, although 44% do subscribe to cable and 22% have  satellite TV.
