A new study has determined that traveling actually makes you smarter. According to data collected by William W. Maddux, associate professor of organizational behavior at INSEAD in France, there is a direct correlation between students' “multicultural engagement” and “integrative complexity.”
More specifically, the research found that students who experienced other cultures were able to hold conflicting viewpoints at the same time and that those who hadn't weren't able to accept different perspectives quite as easily. Maddux's findings also claimed that students in his program who had traveled and explored different cultures were presented with more job opportunities than the ones who hadn’t.
