It's official: J.J. Abrams is returning to a galaxy far, far away. He's signed on to co-write and director "Star Wars: Episode IX." Abrams brought the franchise back to life with 2015's "The Force Awakens," which he also co-wrote and directed. For the "Episode IX" he's tapping Chris Terrio as his new co-writer.
Abrams is replacing Trevorrow, who left the project due to what Disney called "differing visions" for the movie.
"Star Wars: Episode IX" is set to hit theaters December 20th, 2019.
