While summer fun may be over because the kids are back in school, that doesn’t mean everybody is just waiting until the holidays to pack a bag and get away for a vacation. In fact, according to AAA, the fall is looking to be a busy traveling season, with 28% of folks saying they will take some sort of vacation between Labor Day and Thanksgiving.
For a lot of people, fall vacations offer several of benefits that you don’t get when you travel in the summer or over holidays. For example:
- 68% of people say there are fewer crowds and children
- 63% feel the weather is better
- 55% say they get a better value for the cost of their trip
In general, road trips seem to be the most popular type of fall getaway, with 62% of folks planning to get in their car for their trip, with 62% of people planning a trip to see the fall foliage.
As for where everyone is going, most people will be traveling domestically, with Orlando, Florida the most popular destination based on AAA bookings, although not everyone is staying in the States, with the second-most popular destination being Rome, Italy.
