A Russian military helicopter almost killed an innocent bystander on Tuesday when it accidentally fired rockets into a parking lot during a training exercise. Video footage of the incident shared by The New York Times shows two helicopters swooping over a field at treetop level before one fires off rockets that seem to hit a truck a few yards from the bystander.
The misfire came during a major exercise called Zapad 2017, or West 2017, which aims to flex Russian military muscle along the border with NATO countries to the west. While the Russian military issued a statement denying the helicopter mishap occurred on Monday, it has not questioned the validity of the footage.
