Following rock legend Tom Petty's death from cardiac arrest on Monday (October 2), his song sales have increased by a whopping 6,781 percent. Nielsen Music says the numbers are based on U.S. sales reports for October 2 and 3, compared to the two previous days (September 30 and October 1).
Petty’s top-five-selling songs following his passing were: "Free Fallin,’” “I Won’t Back Down," “Mary Jane’s Last Dance," "Learning to Fly," and You Don’t Know How It Feels." Meanwhile, his top-selling albums were his Greatest Hits, Wildflowers, Anthology: Through the Years, Damn the Torpedoes, and Full Moon Fever.
