Generally, save the selfies for your human friends. In just two weeks, two separate women have been injured by elk at Lone Elk Park in Valley Park, Missouri. Both while they were trying to snap photos with the animals.
The first incident, on September 30th, found an unnamed woman getting too close to elk, who roam free in the park. A bull ended up goring her in the back. Then, this weekend, a nature photographer watched as a group of visitors tried to take selfies with an elk heard. The victim made contact with the animal's antlers.
In light of the recent attacks, park officials are considering adding extra patrols to remind people to stay a safe distance from the elk.
