Prozac Could Be Threatening Sea Life

Medicine pills

Do  you know that chemicals in your medicine often make their way to the  ocean after getting flushed from homes or medical facilities?

A new study from Portland State University shows sea creatures  demonstrate riskier behavior and less concern for predators when exposed  to the antidepressant. They also get themselves or other members of  their species killed by picking fights. Crabs showed they were very  prone to getting snatched up by predators after being exposed to the  drug.

Small amounts of Prozac and other prescription medicines have been found in seawater near populated areas for years.Source: Science Daily
