Why do some people manage to keep off the pounds, while others gain back the weight? According to a new study of 14 participants from TV's The Biggest Loser, physical activity--and a lot of it-- is key to keeping off the weight.
On average, those who maintained significant weight loss had 80 minutes a day of moderate activity, like walking, or 35 minutes a day of vigorous exercise, like running. One obstacle for keeping weight off for obese people is that the initial weight loss slowed their metabolism, and the daily regimen to maintain weight loss may be unsustainable.
