In an effort to get a leg up in the so-called package wars, the U.S. Postal Service will be offering next-day Sunday delivery this holiday season. According to the Associated Press, that means consumers could place online orders from participating retailers by a cutoff time on Saturday and the Postal Service would deliver it the following day.
The Postal Service has not yet announced which stores may sign up for this pilot program, but the cheap, next-day service is something that e-commerce retailers struggle to provide--particularly during their most competitive season. The postal service program will be available in 20 major U.S. cities. Walmart says it is also considering the option.
