Driving drunk when you're behind the wheel with a lot of "horsepower" is one thing, but getting arrested for DUI when you're riding a literal horse is another. That's what happened on Thursday in Lakeland, Florida, when 53-year-old Donna Byrne was apprehended by the authorities for riding her horse drunk on a local street. "Ms. Byrne was obviously not in any condition to be on the road," says Polk County sheriff Grady Judd. "She not only put herself and her horse in danger, but also anyone who was driving on the road." After a passerby reported Byrne to police, cops noted in an arrest affidavit that she staggered and smelled of alcohol. She's now been charged with DUI and animal neglect.
