While the holiday season may get some people down, there are plenty of people out there who love this time of year, and it even spills over into the office.
A new poll by Accountemps finds that 51% of people say that they are more cheerful at work during the holiday season, and there are certain things that would make them even happier. Overall, 37% of people say that a year-end bonus would bring them more cheer during the holiday season, while 32% cite a more flexible work schedule and 17% say more paid vacation time would do the trick.
Of course, not everybody loves holiday time in the office. In fact, 35% of people say they are more stressed during this time of the year. Things stressing people out over the holidays include:
- Balancing holiday events and work obligations (32%)
- Coming back from a break with heavy workloads (23%)
- Having fewer people in the office to get work done (18%)
- Buying gifts for co-workers/business contacts (11%)
- Attending office holiday events (8%)
And it turns out where you live may determine whether you are happy or stressed over the holidays. The survey finds that folks in San Francisco are cheeriest at the office during the holiday season, while those in Pittsburgh are the most stressed.
