The implosion of an iconic stadium was an utter failure.
A partial implosion of the Pontiac Silverdome was supposed to happen yesterday morning. Several controlled blasts were supposed to break metal beams supporting the upper ring of the dome, which was supposed to send the stadium crashing to the ground.
That didn’t happen. After several small explosions, the former home of the NFL's Detroit Lions remains standing. Apparently the heavy charges near the supporting beams never got triggered.
Officials hadn't officially rescheduled the demolition, though it could happen later today.
Twitter, naturally couldn’t let the “non-event” go without shading the Detroit Lions.
