On Thursday, Disney announced that it was buying 21st Century Fox from the Murdoch family for approximately $52.4 billion in stock.
But lest you think the Mouse will strip FOX News of its conservative venom, that channel—as well as FOX Business Network, FOX Sports and the Big Ten Network—is being spun off prior to the merger. What will remain for Disney to gobble up will be Twentieth Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures and Fox 2000, which the AP notes are the homes of Avatar,X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool, among other film properties.
On the television side, Disney will get Twentieth Century Fox Television, FX Productions and Fox21, with shows including The Simpsons and Modern Family.
