A mysterious wooden sculpture of a giraffe that turned up at a Hamptons police impound lot last year has found a home, just in time for the holidays. The life-size statue was put up for auction and sold for $3,333.
According to the East Hampton Star, the buyer’s name is being kept anonymous "in the interest of the giraffe’s security and safety." Village administrator Becky Hansen explained, "We’re worried that someone might steal it." The 15-foot-tall giraffe was found by authorities abandoned near a nature trail earlier this year; before that, it was spotted in several different locations in a national state park.
