Think it’s been a cold winter where you live? On Tuesday in the Russian region of Yakutia, the temperature reached a low of 88 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit), causing school to be canceled in a place where children regularly brave the elements when thermostats hit 40 below. Over the weekend, two men froze to death in the area after their car broke down. As the AP notes, the Russian village of Oymyakon recorded a record low of 98 below in 2013.
