Man can’t live on beer alone, but if he had to try, this new beer from Dogfish Head brewery would be the one to try. They’re calling the limited-edition beer “It’s the End of the Wort as We Know It” ale and it’s aimed at survivalists as an answer to the age old question of which beer you should bring if stranded on a desert island.
“Myself and six other co-workers from various departments at Dogfish set out to brew the most survivalist-oriented beer Dogfish has ever made and packed it with a bunch of delicious culinary ingredients resulting in a ton of goodness in the form of essential vitamins and amino acids," Sam Calagione, founder and CEO of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, explains.
This beer is made with a “complex mix of superfoods” including goji berries, acai, purple sweet potatoes, rose hips, chia seeds, flax seed and quinoa. A lab tested the beer and found it to have eight times more vitamin B complex than other lagers and “over 90% the recommended daily serving of folic acid.”
The brewery calls this “nutrient-rich survival” beer a “critical addition to your survival bunker.” They’re even releasing 200 packages of the beer at their brewery in Milton, Delaware that include other doomsday-prepper-friendly gear: a Dogfish-branded Swiss army knife, a solar blanket, and a length of paracord. What more could you need?
