Not so fast, Punxsutawney Phil! One of Canada's Groundhog Day weathercasters emerged from his burrow Friday morning to predict an early spring. And then, just to spice things up, he tried to make a break for it and wound up biting a reporter. "Shubenacadie Sam" of Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Wildlife Park scampered around the park's snowy grounds ahead of his 30th annual weather prediction, then attempted a great escape.
He was thwarted by CBC journalist Brett Ruskin, who received a minor injury while stopping the critter's hasty exit. Video shows Sam suddenly scaling a wire fence before Ruskin grabbed him and put him on the ground. "Ow!" Ruskin said a moment later. "He bit me on the hand!" Someone off camera joked that he'd need a rabies shot.
