According to a recent job posting, Facebook is looking to hire an "extra-terrestrial product manager," but it’s not the alien concept you might think – as the company plans to deliver Internet from the sky.For the record, the position requires experience "taking novel communication/aerospace systems from early development phases to productization and industry infusion."
The extra-terrestrial product manager would work in Facebook's connectivity research unit in Northridge, California. This unit is looking into technologies that include free space optical communication.Word is, that like its larger rival Google and others, Facebook wants to position itself to deliver services within communication systems that use more than earth-based wireline or wireless technologies.
