While a lot of people do the best they can to stay healthy, sometimes your environment may be doing things that sabotage you without you even knowing. There's no doubt some areas in the country do a better job at making sure their residents are as healthy as possible, and now a new report reveals which ones are the best out there.
“U.S. News & World Report” has teamed with the Aetna Foundation for the first-ever Healthiest Communities Ranking, which evaluated 3,000 communities nationwide across ten categories, including education, food and nutrition, population health, infrastructure and economy. The report also judged areas on their approaches to improving public health, as well as which provide the greatest opportunity for residents to live a productive, healthy life.
So, with all that in mind, the magazine chose Falls Church city, Virginia as the Healthiest Community. The area scored well above the national average in at least nine of the ten categories, and in the top three for education, economy and public safety. Overall, Virginia and Colorado were the most represented in the Top Ten, with Virginia landing three communities in the Top Ten and Colorado having four.
