If you thought 2017 was rough weather-wise – buckle up. Forecasters are predicting the upcoming hurricane season will be an active one. Colorado State University's Tropical Meteorology Project is calling for seven hurricanes, three of them could be category three or higher, and 14 named storms are possible.
This forecast is slightly above the 30-year average of 12 named storms, six hurricanes and two major hurricanes, but here is good news. While “more active than usual,” the season is not expected to be as bad as the brutal 2017 season.
The hurricane season begins June 1st.
