A Michigan woman whose husband frequently buys lottery tickets for her birthday almost lost a $2 million winning ticket by throwing it in the trash. UPI reports that the woman mistakenly thought the Multiplier Spectacular ticket she scratched off was not a winner, but her husband was less certain.
He rescued the tossed ticket from the trash, took it to get scanned, and discovered it was worth $2 million. The couple visited the lottery headquarters on Tuesday and opted for the lump sum option of $1.3 million. "We don't consider ourselves to be lucky, so this was a nice surprise," the man said.
