Delaware's largest health care provider is cutting the number of opioid prescriptions it gives out. Christiana Care announced this week it is reducing the number of opioids prescribed after some ob-gyn and general surgery procedures by 40-percent and 50-percent for discharged emergency department patients. Hospital officials say the goal is to reduce chronic opioid use, combat addiction and reduce overdose deaths.
