If you're planning a road trip for Labor Day weekend, you're in luck. UPI reports prices at the gas pump are expected to drop just in time for the holiday. According to AAA, the current national average per gallon of regular unleaded gas is $2.83 and most state averages are on a slow, steady decline. AAA spokeswoman Jeanette Casselano says the price drop is following a decline in consumer demand.
"The national average is expected to keep moving lower, especially with the switchover to lower grade gasoline in September," Casselano said in a statement. Patrick DeHaan from GasBuddy says this summer brought the highest prices for drivers since 2014.
